Dronningen blev i 1972 Allied Colonel-in-Chief (æresoberst) for The Queen's Regiment, senere Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, og i 1997 overtog Hendes Majestæt hvervet som Colonel-in-Chief i The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment.
